NEW WORK BY Gordon MacDonald at Argyle Fine Art

Opening Reception Friday, August 20th, 7pm

It’s the show you’ve all been waiting for…and it’s finally here! Argyle Fine Art’s annual show for Gordon MacDonald is a highlight of the year; this year it’s simply called New Work by Gordon MacDonald, opens this Friday, August 20th at 7pm. The show will continue until September 8th and will be online at www.argylefa.com as soon as the show has opened for those of you at a distance. This year Gordon has created a body of work that touches on his love for Atlantic Canadian landscape and luminous skies as well as his first love: portraiture and figurative work. In some cases the figures find themselves in the landscapes.

MacDonald will take you on a road trip of sorts- many of his paintings have been inspired by driving through the beautiful rural communities of Nova Scotia and New Brunswick however there are a few images inspired by more urban landscape as well. He also manages to capture what many of us take for granted. The mundane becomes beautiful. In true Gordon MacDonald fashion, be prepared to see works on a variety of mediums, which of course will include a selection of works on copper. Words can not explain how amazing these works are. You simply have to see them. You’ll see what I mean. See you Friday?

Gordon MacDonald was born and raised in the Maritimes in both New Brunswick and Newfoundland. He left the Maritimes to study at the Toronto School of Art, The Ontario College of Art, and The Art Students League in New York. He returned to the Maritimes in 1999, and began painting full time. Now he shows exclusively through Argyle Fine Art. His work is in permanent collections in Halifax, and corporate and private collections across Canada and abroad.

Not only is Gordon one of the best landscape paintings in Atlantic Canada but he is also a mentor for many artists- old and young alike. He can often be found at your local coffee shop sharing his knowledge with many. He hopes to offer a materials course in the coming months; if interested please get in touch with the gallery for details.

Show continues until September 8th
